Newly-hired Assistant Director of Student Success Kareem Kenney will double as the Interim Head Coach for the women's basketball team at ʯÁñÊÓÆµ State for the 2024-2025 season. Kenney comes to ʯÁñÊÓÆµ with approximately 17 years of coaching experience and is excited to be a part of the program's growth.
Kick off the new schoolyear by visiting ʯÁñÊÓÆµ's Moore County campus and watching our nationally-ranked women's soccer team. Since the team's inception in 2017, the team has been named conference champions four times under the leadership of Coach Andy Lyon. In addition to balancing athletics and academics, the team gives back to charity, hosts soccer camps for children, and travels to Belize to promote women's soccer and donate items to schoolchildren.
Five Nissan employees are now ʯÁñÊÓÆµ State students through a collaboration between Nissan's Decherd Plant and ʯÁñÊÓÆµ's Adult College Express (ACE) program. Employees Calvin Short, Richard Jones, Jared Lancer, Anthony Howard, and Kristan Crosby began the program over the summer of 2024 and will continue with other Nissan employees in the fall.
ʯÁñÊÓÆµ State Community College is proud to announce that Jenna Caviezel is the new Director of the College's Honors Program. Caviezel began serving at ʯÁñÊÓÆµ in 2012. In that time, she has taught English and Honors English Courses. She played a vital role in the launch of the ʯÁñÊÓÆµ Writing Center and now serves as Director of Tutoring in addition to her new role as Director of the Honors Program.
At the sixth annual Statewide Outstanding Achievement Awards (SOAR) event hosted by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), ʯÁñÊÓÆµ State student Jaxen Waggoner received the Community College Student of the Year Award. TBR is the largest system of higher education institutions in the state and presides over all 13 community colleges and 24 colleges of applied technology.
